Not really sure how to feel on this one. Wear metals very high, but the comments remark that it could be a conflict with my previous oil used, which was Amsoil 100% synthetic diesel oil.

Going to do a double flush and move up to 5W-30 and stick with Amsoil

Do you have any UOA's of the Amsoil that you used? Is this your 1st UOA on this Vehicle?
I have read that when you go with a different oil it may take a few UOA's to get a clear picture of what is going on.

I do, but it was for the break in period when I switched from factory fill to the 0W-20 Amsoil 100% synthetic diesel oil. The only thing I have to go on right now is this one

How many overall miles on the unit? Besides the iron and aluminum, silicon seems high, but if it's only the 2nd change, that would be explained by the sealants used in engine assembly.

Almost 14k miles. I've done 4 oil changes since new to flush out break in materials

I don't feel like the wear metals are particularly high for the 3.0 Duramax, maybe a little higher than some of them, but not enough that I would be concerned yet from one UOA. From all the UOA I have looked at, they all seems be higher than we typically see on BITOG. So it might just be the way these engines are.

Fe & Al seem elevated. Is it still break-in wear? Possibly but since this is your first test can't really tell so just retest in another 5k to see which direction things are going.

@Z28racecar Single snapshot UOA's are essentially useless.

Most people don't even do UOA's during engine run-in.

Do some trending with the same engine oil for at least three UOA's. In most cases, wear metals trend downward as you get away from the run-in period.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve had my eye on this oil after I run through my current stash of M1
