You know...I never thought about why my engine seemed to running a little rougher in the weeks following Katrina and Rita..possibly because of the relaxed regs, crap gas was/is being distributed?

It just dawned on me after just surfing through some of the posts here...the FP60 sounds good but want to put something in now (as in go to Pep Boys or AZ and buy it)

What does anyone recommend? I always pick up the small bottle of Lucas UCL and put it back thinking my car is too new to need this stuff.....well as mentioned above, car seemed and still runs a bit rough after Katrina.

Is the Lucas a good bet or should go with MMO or Techtron, STP etc?

If I go with Lucas do you guys add some at every fill and if so how much? My tank holds 13.2 gallons and I usually put about 10-11.5 in when I fill it.

Thanks

My favorites are:
cheap/strong -b12 chemtool
more expensive redline SI-1

I think I've used all the other ones listed at one time or another tho.

If you do a search, I think you'll find that Terry Dyson has said that FP60 and Techron are the only two fuel additives that have never caused negative oil analysis results. So get thee some Techron OTC.

Redline and techron are good stuff, but since you're ordering FP60, do yourself a favor and buy one of the small bottles of lucas UCL. Then save the bottle for use with the FP, as their bottles suck at delivering the product to the tank (always gotta use a funnel or something to hold the fuel trap open and pour in). The lucas bottle is small, but long enough to use on its own to add FP.

I got some of the Lucas at AZ at lunch. I take it I don't need to add the whole bottle at once...maybe half? I assume that even if I put the whole bottle in that it won't hurt, just waste it right?

Also I opened the bottle and was suprised that there was no little safety cover over the opening...also no smell at all which seems strange to me. Wonder if I just got yellow water

Techron with your vintage auto. Great OTC fuel additive.

MMO and Techron alternated periodically with "mature" auto (50K mi. plus).

Don't know about Lucas. I'll have to look into it for my own info. That said, MMO kept a '78 Suburban with a 454 humming for me for 15 years -- after lead was eliminated from gas. Quieted lifters and valves. The 454 loved it. It was running strong with great compression when I sold it at 175K in 1999, this after much boat towing, camping, using as a truck for hauling, and moving family to new residences, etc. (Miss that rig!)

Power Source for diesel engines -- and alternated periodically with MMO, too.

That said, just ordered FP for use in '95 Power Stroke DIT. I'll let everyone know how that goes when I have something to report.

I put in a little more than half(I thought the stuff was more water like but it is semi thick)....I'll see how it goes..filled up with 11 gallons
