My U-Haul tire failure story is a bit more involved...
My son, then 10 years old, and I were towing the Packard on a U-Haul trailer behind out Ford Expedition, on Route 107, near Stockbridge, VT. No cell coverage. No town, even, when the tire blew. Middle of nowhere.
I pulled over immediately. No way we were going to go any farther.
We had just passed a lonely farmhouse on the right, which didn't even appear to be occupied, and up ahead was a gravel driveway, leading up a hill into the woods. With no cell coverage - what choice did we have?
I pulled the truck and trailer over at the bottom of that driveway, and we struck out up the hill. At the top of a hundred yards of gravel drive was a set of one story buildings, with a bit of an industrial/business look.
We opened the front door, and walked into the reception area. An animatronic receptionist looked up, turned towards us, welcomed us to "Advanced Animation", and asked us to have a seat. Completely robotic. Clear plastic skin with flashing lights and wires inside. She gestured and tilted her head as she spoke her greeting

We had stumbled on to a studio that made robots and dinosaurs. Robots and dinosaurs! Including robot dinosaurs!
Does it get any better for a 10 year old and his Dad? After we called U-Haul -Advanced Animations graciously offered us a tour. They built the Terminators for the Universal Studios ride - 8 foot tall animated robots that talked and moved, with guns that flashed - they had one on display in their "model room". We got to see it in action - breathtaking!
They were making animatronic dinosaurs for another project, and an entire school of clownfish were getting finished for a "Finding Nemo" attraction, and a tiger in the model room was following us with its eyes while its chest slowly heaved up and down as it breathed. Occasionally, its tail would flick back and forth.
They were all incredible.
Took U-Haul 2 hours to show up with a tire.
We didn't mind the wait. We had the most amazing tour, of the facility that makes many of the animatronics that you see in places like Disney, Universal, Walking with Dinosaurs, and others.
I would complain about the tire failing on that trailer, but how could I? We got to see an incredible place...what a serendipitous moment.
