Any opinions as to a sub $100 3x9x40 rifle scope with good eye relief for a 30-06. Looking for hunting and function over bells and whistles. Thanks

Deer hunting so something good at a hundred yards will work. Shot many a deer with my previous sub $100 Tasco scope with TV view and no issues. Its no longer available. Just not looking to move scopes around. There are plenty out there in many variations from all the companies. Some better than others which is why I ask in case there is a favorite.

I would consider a fixed magnification scope for that price range. You will get better glass for the money, and a straight 4x or similar should be enough for deer hunting out to 100 yards.

My thoughts on scopes. I think of them like speakers connected to your home stereo system. You can have an amazing stereo system with top of the line $10,000 Amps and Receiver then add cheap $150 Speakers guess what? Your awesome setup will sound like a $150 system.

To much can go wrong on a hunt of a lifetime when you mount a scope built to a price point.

I venture to say, anything under a $100 bucks will perform exactly the same. Get one that has a lifetime warranty, as you will probably need it.

Vortex crossfire comes to mind. Decent glass for the money.

Bushnell trophy might be worth a look. Or some of the other bushnell offerings.

I have both and they are probably as good as you get under $100.

Some guys like the Simmons Scopes, too.

Don't forget a decent set of rings, though.

I know you're on a budget, but scope quality really increases in the $300-$500 range. It isn't just clarity, either.

Oh yeah..burris full field. Good image but mine doesn't hold zero that well.

Very true but my Savage Axis II left handed in 30-06 cost me $350 out the door! And that is before the $75 rebate!

If you need to stay at $100 or less you might want to move to a 2x-7x in a 32 or 36mm objective. It will be lighter, since the lens is smaller you will have a greater chance of getting a better piece of glass and lower mag will not show the aberrations as much. For deer hunting at anything up to 200 yds you have plenty of mag for identification and bullet placement and at 2x you get a wider field of view for scanning and the real close shots. The Vortex crossfire 2-7 is generally $30 cheaper than the same scope in 3-9 and still has a no questions asked lifetime warranty. The biggest problem I see at the range with low cost scopes on Centerfire rifles is they dont hold zero after a few years of heavy recoil so the warranty is important.

Look up this site. https://www.bushnell.com/bushnell-factory-outlet.html/
I'm like a kid when I go there. Lots of stuff!!
I prefer a 3x9x40 myself or a fixed 4 power, because that is what I grew up with and it just plain works for me.
I killed many an empty beer bottle on the Kaw river. I would go there on a Monday or Tuesday and find plenty of empty beer bottles left over from the weekend. I would throw them into the river and let the current carry them on down. This was 25 years ago. I would shoot them with my Remington 552 with a 4x Tasco scope. Yes a cheap scope but it had a good, bright view through it's tube so all I had to do was figure out the drop of the bullet and how far to lead the bottle. Beer cans were fun too because they needed a few hits to sink em' quick. That is what taught me the most about holding a rifle properly (cheek weld) and how to breathe. Anyhow yes you will find a good scope that will do what you want on that Bushnell site. They have great customer service too. I believe that they can repair your Tasco TV view scope or tell you who to send it to. Let us know what you get!!
