I rented the largest truck Budget has to offer a couple of times the past 5 years, both diesels. Both good trucks. The last one was fairly new too. Good prices, good service. Most of these outfits here are owned by local yocals so you get some southern charm and honesty thrown in for free. Excellent fuel mileage considering the loads I was moving. I'd avoid U-Haul like the plague from what I've seen from friends I've helped move. Check into POD type moving too. I've accumulated enough crap over the years to need both if I'm moving myself.
U-Haul doesn't have any diesel trucks?
