Two planes collide on the tarmac in Atlanta

I have never heard ATC use that term.

Ramp, apron, taxiway is all I have ever heard ATC or anyone else in aviation use.

That said, my airline has a “ tarmac delay checklist” we are to follow if delayed on the ground for extended periods of time in order to comply with company and regulatory laws when passenger delays are involved after pushback or after landing.

Would this have a better chance of being fixed in a lower cost location with an MRO facility? Obviously not possible to fly the plane anywhere to explore this possibility, but just curious from a theoretical standpoint.

In the US, even with Delta TechOps being right there at the field, can't see it happening.

NTSB preliminary report is out:

The image on Page 5 really tells the story. The CRJ stopped 56 feet short of the hold short line, obviously these are big planes, but that seems pretty far from where they should have been. Combined with the fact that the A350 was troubleshooting an ECAM message, well, the holes in the swiss cheese lined right up.
