Twinkies making a comeback.

I could care less. (aside from lost jobs.

I think that it is ridiculous that there are public outrages for something like Twinkies and not for more serious political issues floating around.

I'm glad everyone has their priorities straight. lol.

Most folks love a Twinkie now and then. They even praise them as they gobble them down the old pie-hole. Odd thing though.....the racial stuff aside, many despise Paula Deen for making similarly tasty but unhealthy food. Maybe some folks need to loosen up (and I'm a bit of a health fanatic).

It was never about the Twinkies themselves( at least not for normal folks ). It was about yet another union driving their employer broke.

Yeah, keep hoping for unions to completely go away.

If it wasn't for unions in the US we wouldn't even have the quality of life we have today, we'd likely be a lot like China is with a bunch of poorly paid wage slaves.

I'd love to hear how NHHEMI will feel when his children or grandchildren will be living on a wage level of a Chinese worker, even with a skilled job. What a chump.

Yep.

The ORIGINAL was made with very basic ingredients that were fresh like eggs, milk, sugar, butter, ect.
After the fifties that all changed.

Hopefully Hostess means they will be using the original recipe that they stated with.

Absolutely the recipe will be different. The last generation Twinkies were a different recipe than the ones I ate as a kid in the 70s. Back then they were made from real sugar, lard, etc and were yummy!! Same with Ding Dongs. Back when they were sold individually wrapped in aluminum foil, they tasted so much better. All natural ingredients instead do all that synthetic junk and corn syrup instead of real sugar.

This. The original recipe is long gone unfortunately.

This is no longer something I will eat.

The supposed "food" aside, the important issue here is that the company has completely bypassed the union. QOL, benefits, and pay have all taken a nose dive for anyone that works for them.

Everything is a chemical. Not sure why people are so quick to condemn a product just because they see some long name in the ingredients list.

When you replace "butter" (a chemical) with "hydrogenated soy oil" (another chemical), it's worthy of condemnation. Taking it from a food, to a non-food, purely for money.

I bet Michael Bloomberg, the NY mayor, will welcome them back with open arms...
The night before Hostess declared bankruptcy, I was shopping and bought a few for my kids. I knew they were going to declare bankruptcy and I knew there would be a rush on them the next day. I hadn't eaten any for years and I wanted my kids to experience a Hostess Twinkie, just like I have them watch movies with a classic plot or punch line, just so they can experience it. Anyway, all three of my kids ate one and they all said that the Hostess Twinkie was gross, they didn't want any more of them and they couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. I was pretty proud of my kids.

Once again Shannow states the case clearly, and concisely.

Nice call, mate!

So they use to could make a quality product from mostly wholesome and natural ingredients while paying their union workers decent compensation and making a profit. Now they supposedly can't do either? There's something wrong with that picture.

Speaking as someone who ate one once, it's hard to believe that "Most folks love a Twinkie now and then." What's to love about it? It's tolerable, but so is orange rind and who really loves orange rind? Give them a couple of years and they'll be gone again.

My experiences with twinkies include a marine bringing them across to meet a friend of ours...the plastic ones in my children's kitchen sets were comparable.

I don't believe that

That would be sooooooooo awesome if they brought back that original formula (plus bring back the original recipe Ding Dongs too)!!!!!! Back then that was the only way foods could be made. No nasty soybean oil, high fructose corn syrup,YUCK. Only real milk, eggs, butter, and sugar. I grew up on homemade foods from scratch. The way stuff is made now is such a shame :^(

The original formula supposedly had banana creme. But unless you had one prior to WWII, you probably haven't had an original Twinkie.
