Who is using a non HD oil filter on their TC and why? Tia.

I usually use fram ultra 3614. Now that I have an ultra cool oil filter I use the 3600. I've also used mobil 1. I use the ultra based on what I've seen here and youtube.

I’ve got an XG3600 on my 08 Electra, because I’ve disassembled both filters as well

I have been using HiFlo filters in all of my Twin Cams (one current, three previous) for ages.

Come to think of it I typically have HiFlos in all of my bikes as they have been very easy to get.

I’ve been using the HiFlo Filtro on my two Harley’s, I love the nut on the end and they are a well built filter with excellent filtering capabilities.

Do you happen to know what the micron rating is on the HiFlo filters?

It’s been a number of years since I spoke with a Tech Person with them, but it filters some 5 micron, and if I recall correctly it was 98% at 20 micron; I will look for my notes from the conversation, I hope I kept them.

I just pulled my Maintenance File, I must have thrown the sheet away on the specific filtering details on it. I do remember they said it met/exceeded the OEM requirements; and they also stated in our conversation a 5 micron filtering ability, but at what % I cannot recall. I‘m very tunneled vision on my equipment and would not have made the change to HiFlo if it was inferior to HD’s product. I wish I had kept that conversation log I had with them.

I do remember the tech folks of HiFlo were far more transparent than the tech folks at K&N, who would not give out any filtering information. Not ragging on the K&N product at all, I just put the K&N filter on my Valkyrie, but I value transparency.
