Been looking into putting in a catch can, as the intercooler is getting oily, and was wondering if I needed to so something different than what I did on my N/A car. Just used a air/water separator for the N/A car.
If you are plumbing the line to terminate in the intake tract somewhere rather than just vented to the atmosphere, you'll need to make sure it comes in before the turbo, or alternatively you'll need a one-way valve to prevent turbo pressure from backfeeding into the crankcase.
The theory of operation is the same. Eliminate the velocity that holds the heavy oil vapors in the flow. No velocity ..no suspension of heavy wet vapors.
The PCV valve probably closes under boost to prevent backflow, so I figure that the worst that would happen is your catch can getting pressurized under boost.
