IIRC, there was a "Turbo V6 Camaro" made for three years. Has anyone owned, or had, this weird Camaro? (96, 97, 98 comes to mind?)

Reviews? Opinions? Bad? Good? A GREAT Car? A HORRIBLE Car? .. interested.

In 1981, you could get a turbo 301 V-8 in the Firebird.

In 1989, Pontiac's 25th anniversary Trans-Am had a turbo 3.8 V-6, same engine that was in the Grand National.

AFAIK, no turbo Camaros.

Forgot about that one - very true.

Soon, you will be able to buy a factory supercharged fifth gen Camaro.

It will be the Z28 with the LSA engine from the Caddy CTS-V.

A smaller pulley, bolt-ons, and some minor weight reduction are all that is needed to thoroughly humiliate some MUCH more pricey foreign machinery.
(And with some minor suspension mods and stickier tires, even in the "twisties"!

It's all supercharged, just exhaust driven versus belt driven.

Trust me, the new Camaro needs very little in the suspension department. The handling is very well sorted out.

I am dying to see a new Z28 in person.

This Web site is dedicated to my 1997 3.8L V6 A4 Camaro. I purchased this car in September of 2001, and during a unlucky encounter with black ice in December of 2001 I spun out going 25 MPH on a bridge, damaging the front and rear bumpers. While the car was in for repairs I had it painted the way you see it now. The Black stripes Are the factory Paint they were taped off and the yellow was painted, then the whole car got fresh clear coat so it would be even.

Thread hijack!-------Man those were slow! I had a friend that had one. I had a 69 Chevelle that had a 302 but with a stock hydraulic lo-po cam, 307 intake and 2bbl carb, 3 on the tree and 3.08's and I ate that turbo car for lunch in the 1/4 mile.

He stopped bragging about his turbo 301 after that.

Pretty cool! That thing moves out nice!

Everything back then was a slow dog by today's standards. We called them smog dogs. My '83 Turbo T Bird with a 5 speed ran 0-60 in a slug like 9 flat, and it was a hot car in its day.

The normally aspirated 2.4L buzz bucket in our Solstice makes about as much torque as the 400 / 4bbl I had in high school, maybe more.

The golden age of cars is right now.

Another thread jack - those Chevy 302's did not seem to be very common.

The family across the street from us had a Gen 2 Camaro, maybe 1971 model year, and it had the 302 in it, but was mostly a plain jane Camaro other than that.

That was the only 302 that I recall ever seeing and it ran very well. It could eat my '75 Firebird with the 400 / 4bbl smog wheezer for breakfast and never know it had anything.

307 intake? Wasn't the 307 an Olds motor? The 302 was an SBC....

The only 307's I recall were small block Chevrolet engines.

edit: my older sister's '68 Camaro had a 307 or 327 in it, can't recall which after all these years.

Maybe they did make one? I dunno, I'm no GM expert, LOL!

I know of the 283, 302, 305, 327, 350 and 400 SBC's.

Now, we owned an Olds 307 in an '86 Wagon. And my '74 Cutlass Supreme had an Olds 350, which was nothing like an SBC 350.

Your sister's Camaro would have had a 327. Popular engine in that car.

283`s were so hard to kill!! What a stout motor they were.

Chevy had a 307 that replaced the 283 for passenger car use,
Olds used a 307 from early 80's to I believe 92.
