Hey guys, I was thinking about trying out the Eneos 5w30 in my Eclipse when I change the Amsoil 0w30 out of it sometime in the fall. $50 for a 6 qt case isn't too bad. The Amsoil is pretty expensive also. Any thoughts on this stuff? I see claims of HP increase and whatnot, but who knows. And in a normal car what is 3hp??? I'm just wondering how this stuff would do for an extended drain. Have not see much about it.

No. Only Eneos oils labeled "Fully Synthetic" are Group IV/V. The "Synthetic" oils are Group III.

Why are you moving away from the Amsoil? Didn't like it? If you find something that works and is affordable - stick with it. I doubt you see any torque gains over the SSO unless the vis is sig lower. At this price, I would prefer you try a great oil, the Motul 8100 X-MAX, ACEA A3/B3, BMW LL-01; it's Ester base and the French need your money more than the Japanese. Stop fiddling around and get the good stuff. Precursor - How do you drive and what's your Mitsu engine - blown 4 or V6?

I really have not had any problems with the SS0, my used oil analysis looks pretty good. I just thought I would see what else is out there. For some reason I "think" that my engine sounds a little noisy with the oil that is in it. I don't know if it is psychological or not, and I have not really had been able to stand next to another car to hear what it sounds like. I don't see to many of them around here. It could be totally normal, but if the Eneos is just a group III oil, I'm really interested. I am really thinking about trying some ACD from Amsoil...
