TruFuel issues?

Noticed with the Stihl blower my parents have, it runs bad with TruFuel 50:1. Takes a while for it to start and when it does run, it bogs down. Not a problem if I use Husky XP pre-mix(I drive to Lowe’s to get it, the local Ace has Stihl MotoMix, WM near Lowe’s has VP 50:1). I barely use the thing, so we stick to pre-mix 50:1.

I find this on YouTube,

I’ve used the stuff in a Homelite trimmer with no issues but it seems like this Stihl is picky with fuel. We did have two other pieces of two-stroke(since replaced with battery electric) that seemed to run OK on TruFuel but I think it might have contributed to them dying sooner due to piston scuffing.

no issues, ever.................she wants to fix stuff.................ethanol fuel, untreated kills OPE carbs............undeniable.

if you use fresh treated, non ethanol fuel=no problem..........if you store the thing with pump 87 ethanol over the winter, good luck......replacing carbs 100%

New carb was installed years ago. For some reason, it doesn’t like TruFuel. As soon as I poured out the TruFuel and refilled with XP+, it ran fine.

The Prius wasn’t complaining at all with TruFuel in its tank. 😜
After watching the video, it seems that Stihl products don't like it but other brands do. I use it in my Redmax blower, trimmer and Jonesred chain saw. Never had a problem. Stuff runs great.

My Stihl chainsaws and weedeater isn't picky. It runs on whatever I mix up. It's always a guess when the 2 cycle oil bottle doesn't have a clear window on the side of the bottle. Why in the world would anybody buy an expensive pre-mixed can of fuel? Maybe I should start selling pre mix in 2 gallon cans for $50 and make a fortune.

TruFuel is canned in the same factory that all the others are. Its the same stuff in the can. Premix fuel from Husky, Echo, Stihl, all the same, with different oil obviously. The only difference I have seen is some cans are 90 octane, some 91, some 94.

TruFuel uses VPRacing JASO FD oil, so its top notch oil.

My Echo 2 strokes like Trufuel but do not Like VP Racing. They ain't the same. The filler neck on VP Racing is plastic/nylon. The filler neck on Trufuel is metal just like the rest of the can. ymmv

I believe some equipment doesn't like Trufuel, while others run fine on it. Trufuel is all I've ever used in my Echo weed trimmer and it runs fine. Chickanic isn't a total Trufuel hater though; she says it's great for keeping fuel system components in good condition for long term OPE storage.

The SDS sheets all indicate different mixtures.

When I use Husky I think 94 octane in my equipment the difference is incredible. Easy start and super response especially on the chain saw.

I used to use it in the Husky 445 saw. I cant recall much of anything issues though. Usually it was winter stored with it, then the tank burnt off first use.

My Toro 2450 snowblower runs great on Trufuel or VP. Started first pull this winter with Trufuel sitting in the tank for 9 months.
My experience is the same. My 18 year old 2450 2 stroke often acted up after summer storage with self mixed fuel. I switched to canned fuels (trufuel and powercare (home depot) and my starting problems disappeared. Machine runs a lot smoother and with less visible emissions as well. My leaf blower seems to prefer it as well.

It's trash. I lose anywhere from 700rpm to 2000rpm running trufuel.
Ethanol free pump gas at 40:1 is cheaper, stuff starts easier and gives more power.
My small echo saw is about to turn 25 years old, largely in part to ethanol free pump gas and redarmor.
