^^ bump for help.
mobil 1 15w50 for street/drift use?
i tried castrol 10w40 and it held relatively high oil pressure when drifting at a track. But this oil eats more oil than other brand/weight.
So now i'm lurking for something else that has 40. I need something that i can find at autozone because of reward card

Both castrol 0w30 and mobil 1 0w40 showed lower oil pressure than castrol 10w40 when drifting.

I my be talking out my rear orifice at this point but what I remember form some very educated and wise people on here (CATERHAM, Doug Hillary, d00d, etc.) that a loss of 15 psi oil pressure at high temp is not good and could possibly indicate a lube failure.

If you can run an oil and maintain OP at max operating temps while competing, you have found your oil...

Guys, please chime in if I am wrong.

Also, thicker does not necessarily translate to better. I would use a Mobil 1, Castrol, RL synthetic at spec weight for your car and keep an eye on your OP while racing.

let's say my oil pressure gauge indicates 30 psi when normal driving on the road. It is the best oil for my car if the OP stays around 30 psi when competing?

castrol 0w30 and mobil 1 0w40 dropped OP significantly when drifting.

Try Mobil 1 10W40HM.

From looking at the specs,Mobil`s HM oils are just thicker, have more zddp, and more detergents. It works great in my Z32 and in my friend`s TT Z32.

I'm about to find out if its just another internet rumor. Stopped burning oil with M1 HM, going to see if it comes back when I switch to plain M1.
