Troy-Bilt pressure washer

Bought it new in 2005, last used it 6 years ago when I painted the house. I was expecting to re-build or replace the carb. It was put away "wet" but all the gas evaporated. I put 6 month old gas in, primed it and pulled the starter a dozen times and it caught and ran fine. Even the pump works fine. I'm going to replace the engine oil and the pump oil. It has a B&S 4.5 HP engine. The engine oil was replaced previously, it's still light golden but the pump oil is original. I have a quart of Valvoline 30wt and B&S pump oil which I'll use.

That's good news. I'm wary of MTD Troy-Bilt stuff, of which I have a few items. It's cheap stuff compared to the days when Troy-Bilt was built in Troy, NY.

You may consider some Techron in the fuel.

I ended up with a Troy-Bilt pressure washer when my Campbell Hausfeld unit took a dump in the middle of my household chores.
It is better than I expected and I have had worse.

Some pumps say not to do anything for the oil unless the pump is rebuilt. I know AR says that. I would skip the pump.

Troy-Bilt advises changing the pump oil every 50 hours or every year. I got the oil so I'll change it. It's a non detergent 30 wt oil.

Use the non-detergent 30 weight in the lower dollar, most likely made in China pumps.

I have a small engine repair shop and work on these frequently. I've used Cat pump oil and Briggs pump oil in these before, but those seem to be thinner and possibly synthetic. Basically, Cat and Briggs pump oil frequently leaks from these low dollar pumps. I've had much better service just using non-detergent 30 weight.
