For the first time in probably 10 years, I tried a carnauba wax.

The wax as part of Autogeek's Father's Day special. It is Detailer's Pro (an Autogeek house brand, if I'm not mistaken) Max Wax. Reviews are generally positive, though I'm sure it's pretty low on the scale of carnauba waxes, especially high end stuff.

I swore off carnauba once I tried a synthetic sealant. No more dusty residue when removing or stained black trim, plus the sealants always lasted much longer.

I layered the Detailer's carnauba over a coat of Poorboy's EX-P sealant. The carnauba went on easy, came off easy, left minimal residue, didn't leave any streaks, and didn't stain any trim. Success all around.

What really impressed me was the feel of the paint finish. I have always found sealents to leave a very sanitary and clean feeling. That is hard to objectify, but its the best I can do. The carnauba left a very buttery feeling. Giving it a final wipe-down was like the panel had a light coat of grease on it. Interesting.

My truck is white, so it doesn't really pop like some other colors. When it's freshly washed, it looks white. After an entire day of detailing, it looks... white. My wife's truck will get the treatment next weekend. It is a pretty rich looking metallic brown. Hopefully I'll get to see if the carnauba makes any optical difference in the paint. One thing is for sure, I will be keeping a carnauba wax in my stash from here on out.

Detailers Pro branded products are good stuff. I have never used their waxes, though. I use Griots Garage machine polishes for polishing, then Rejex for sealing. The Rejex shines good enough not to need a wax, and works on trim/headlights/windshield without staining.

DP Max Wax is awesome. It lasts 2-3 weeks on a daily driver, which is fantastic for a carnauba.

There is a carnauba wax that will give you the look but last like a sealant, especially atop a sealant.....that would be Collinite #845 Insulator Wax. It's really the best of both worlds and inexpensive.

+1
#845 simply amazes me every time I use it, and at about $15, it's what I would call a "best buy". Easy to use, looks great, and lasts, what's not to like?

Does the Pinnacle Souveran last any longer than that, despite being a carnauba?? (It should, given how over-the-top exorbibtantly it is priced!!!!

white is a color that discourages detailing...at least in my case.
I did wash the Alpine White Bimmer and waxed it 2 weeks ago, and it looks great at night, but during other times, it just looks white...
pretty, but white.

Talk about what? Is my truck going to burst into flames or something?

No one uses a carnauba with the expectation of durability greater than a month.

I use the Pinnacle Liquid Souveran which is $40 a bottle vs $95 for a can of the paste wax. Looks great on my white Outlander and lasts about 3 months. FYI. You don't need to use much so a bottle does last for numerous waxings.

I agree and the poster missed that point....which I was trying.

I did not miss the point and, no, I do not have an unrealistic expectation of the longevity of a carnauba. That would be why I layered it over a good sealant that *will* last 6 months... a step I did mention in my post.
