Tricky flight ticket change fees

Hi,

we're planning a family trip. When booking tickets, my wife omitted that on her daughter's passport, there's TWO family names. She mentionned only the first one. This is likely to fail at customs or boarding, and the company wants to charge € 150 to modify issue a corrected ticket.

As an example, the ticket is now printed with "DOE John" name instead of what's on the passport "DOE SMITH John"
Discussing of the matter, do you think that :

1- how great this would fail at customs/boarding (I think it would)
2- I can't find the rule for modification charges. I understand when reading that when changing for another flight (time, date, route, whatever) it's billable but...
3- just tell anything you might want to

If the Air Port is close enough, Id go there and talk with Customs/Screening. I would not pay 150e for a name error.

But I'm a home -body; I don't go out of the Country.

It's funny that I traveled West of the Mississippi for the first time last month.

I've been to the sales counter at the airport, like, 3 months ago when I saw the mistake. I've been nice as usual on a first encounter, and they told be "sorry, any modification will be charged $ 150. If it would be like less than 24hr after buying, we could have done it for free." It's a low-cost company, I understand that they have directives to earn any bonus money from needy customers.

Seems like I'll try on phone and pay if nothing else is doable from my perspective.
 
It will give you some hassle but you'll make it through.

My poor wife passport has two names that US passport agency did not put a space between her old last name and our family last name. It pukes issues everytime they force us to use kiosk's and have to head to counter.
 
At least, we learn that we should be VERY precise when putting the name of an airplane ticket and anything you need to use ID.
