Like you said, it's snake oil. They lie to you from the very beginning. "Reverse wear"... You can't reverse wear. They promote nano-particles as this new great thing when in reality, it's outdated and far surpassed in friction reduction capability by the liquid FM MoDTC already in most engine oils. It's more likely to compete with the oil's FM rather than synergize with it. Plus, it doesn't get better with heat where as MoDTC does.
Supplements, in general, should be avoided. There's fully formulated oils out there for any application. If you have an oddball where there is no formulated oil that's ideal for it, there's companies like HPL that'll make it for you. If your oil needs a supplement, you're using the wrong oil.
The primary objective of oil supplements, the only thing they consistently do well, is to separate you from your money. The profit margin on that $100 supplement is likely in the neighborhood of 50,000-80,000%.
