Transmission gear selector not in correct gear

Replaced a couple of worn out servos in my friends explorer. Followed the procedure and everything went well. Took it on a test drive and couldnt get reverse to work and drive was severely deficient in power. Tried again a few minutes later and it was stuck in driveand couldnt get into park. Now the truck will not even start assumingly because the transmission is still in gear even though the gear selector is in park.


Any ideas or is it time for a transmission rebuild?

Sounds like the neutral safety switch needs an adjustment.

You can adjust the shift selector, there is a little wheel on the selector cable.

It's also common for the shift selector adjuster to break on these. There are youtube videos showing how to fix it. The one on my Ranger is way off.
