AZ, when is the best time of year to go wheelin' in Moab? I am not sensitive to the heat, but my wife is...You can't spend time at Moab and not stop in at Trailmater Recovery and get a shirt. I was lucky as the guys pulled in with a SxS on the rollback when I was there. Said hi and thanks for the interesting content. Spring or fall. It's brutal right now. You lose gallons of water just sitting still and breathing. And despite what the tourism council ($$$$$) will tell you, the winters still get d*** cold. Plus slickrock + ice = death
Yes, Its a long story but my wife almost died in Death Valley. I had to literally carry her out in my arms. We did it WRONG. Despite all the posted warnings, we spent 4hrs in DV with no water, except half of a Big Gulp coke we bought in Pahrump, NV while driving in. That was a BAD CHOICE, LOL.
There's a book about ALL the deaths in the Grand Canyon (although they'll need to update for 2026) and honestly it's fascinating and a VERY easy read. I recommend it.

Some folks have a "don't be a wimp" type attitude. Always protect yourself from bad information. I drink water all day long here in MO regardless.
D60 is right but Moab is a small town and gets really crowded in season. Going out wheeling or riding is manageable now but you have to be out at the butt crack of dawn and be done by noon when it hits 100. And nothing is crowded. Maybe first time here rent a guide and make sure your vehicle is 100%. There are guys here who drove to Moab wheeled and drove home maybe they'll see this.
We've had people get heat exhaustion on trail rides from not drinking water / gatorade / whatever before. That's a scary situation.
