Trailblazer SS Oil Question

Hello guys, first post here. Recently bought an 07 Chevy Trailblazer SS AWD. I have been reading around on here for a few months and have been debating between Mobil 1 0w-40 and amsoil 5w30 XL. I can get the amsoil for the same cost locally as the Mobil 1.

The TBSS’s LS2 is cammed, with upgraded oil pick up tube, lifters, melling pump, etc and getting a fresh rebuild. After the engine break in what oil would be better to use, if any? It will be paired with a AC Delco PF63 filter as well. I live in Northern Michigan and daily it so it does see very cold temps, around 0-10 usually, during the winter months.

For the winter, 0W30 Mobil 1.
Never been a fan of AC Delco filters - not since the shift to new suppliers a decade ago. I own GM products.
Run a basic EG, Tough Guard or Wix.

For the same price i would have the amsoil. 5w30 is plenty thick if you wont be racing every day. 10w30 is a option but not in your weather it sounds like. I run pennzoil ultra platinum 10w30 in my lm7.

Nothing wrong with Ac Delco filters they are a good choice - I use them myself even on non GM vehicle never had an issue.

Stick with a quality full synthetic like Mobil 1 or Valvoline Advanced for example - Your safe to run 5w30 year-round.

Northern Michigan as in north part of down state or the UP? For everyone else, they are literally two different worlds climate and culture wise.

If the UP, Mobil 1 0W-40 would be a good choice for the whole year. If lower MI then any decent synthetic 5w30 would work year round, buy based on price.

Now if you're in Keewenaw County, that's a whole 'nother story!

Beef up the transmission if it hasn't been done so already. Blew my '07 with only 12K on the odometer.

Seems to be a common occurrence.

Thanks guys. Only reason why I really didn’t want to run the amsoil was due to not being able to buy it somewhere quickly if I’m in a pickle and need some quick, such as Walmart or something. I think I might switch it up as the Mobil 1 is now available for $32 for 7 quarts vs $49 for 7 quarts of amsoil.

Live in the UP. Right on the border of Canada actually. Can see Canada out of my front door. I’m thinking the Mobil 1 might be a good option. Unless I can get 0w-40 amsoil, would that be a good option?
