I just bought a new phone from Tracfone and planned on keeping my old number but they send me a text saying your new number is xxxxxx. So I call and complain about it and there like oh-well. You can either Buy a new phone card or keep the new number until it expires a year from now and then you can have your old number back. What a crock of xxxx. BTW my carrier is Verizon....can they do anything ?

I hope not! My wife has a trac phone, and we were thinking about upgrading her phone to a newer one.

And all the important people have that number too....

I've had Tracfone service for nearly 9 years. They replaced my old 'phone for free when it became necessary to update to 3G. There was no difficulty retaining my old number. You must've skipped a step in the transfer.

That said, their customer service isn't the greatest.

You have Verizon with phone number "A" ?
You got a Tracfone with a new phone number "B" ?

Are you under contract with Verizon ? If so, you can't port your number away from them unless you pay off the contract.

Did you request Tracfone to port your current phone number ?

I've had a TracFone for 6 years now, once I requested a new number , then bought a new phone and transferred my old number to the new phone,,,no problems in either case...never had a problem with their customer service although some reps can be hard to understand

I called Tracfone last night and must have talked with the right person because he got me my old number back. I think maybe the other people I talked with there didn't want to take the time to fix the problem.

I'm surprised your old number was still available that long. Sometimes our old numbers are re-issued only days later.
867-5309 is always #1 asked for, regarding phone numbers that haven't two of the same number.

.... ain't that right Jenny? She must be over 80 years-old now.
