Do a cooler line flush every 50,000 miles and you will be fine.

I just did a drain/fill on the Forester because I saw brown fluid.
Dumped in 4 qts. of new red fluid. out of 9 qts. total volume. No difference in shift quality and I now read Subaru ATF can change color but that does not indicate degraded fluid.
It could be the same for Toyota and from what I've read WS was a synthetic.
