Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey

Granted I bought my 05 Sienna 6 years ago, but I looked at both carefully before I bought the Sienna. If I could have gotten the same factory lease deal from Honda that I got from Toyota, I would have bought the Honda. That being said, I have 78,xxx miles on my Sienna and it has been completely trouble free. The Honda is a great product and is well designed with the new Ody having an...unusual...rear end. Honda still clings to their unusual non-planetary gear transmission design. They seem to have corrected the early Ody trans failures, and are now considered to be overall reliable. If I were to buy one or the other today, I would buy the Sienna just because I don't like the look of the back half of the Honda, but I think the Honda is a better van besides that one quirk. JMO

+1

My parents have one. Typical Honda, in a good way. Runs like a clock. Very true about the seats, transmission, and road feel. Weird how all Hondas are like that.

The 2011 looks promising.

Moms has a Sienna (04 or 05) and its done well over the years. The drain plug was stripped and the radiator has a crack that an Indy quoted at $700 since the front clip has to be removed. Doesn't look like fun to work on (it is a van).

Other than that, it has had an air filter and tires since c. 60k/2008 that is all.

I have a 06 Odyssey, too. I add: Not enough ground clearance, only 4.5"

And crazy complicated AC/heat dual zone controls, with very dim LCD display.

Late to the party here, but strictly from a styling standpoint, I'd go Sienna. I have no idea where Honda is getting these (non)styling lines from, but they are just dreadful, imo. The new Odyssey lines I find very unappealing. This from a current and three time Honda owner, so no Honda hating involved here.
