toyota oil filters quick question

realwing I do not think that the oil makes right turns to follow the media. The oil flows right through the pleats directly no skin effect. All of theurns are used to add depth. This allows alot of media to be put in a small space. Same idea as the folds on your brain. Alot of surface area in a small volume.

I do not tink Toyota would re-invent the wheel unless they though their idea was better. Toyota is known for sticking with what works. The costumer would never see this internal design change. Their had to be a reason for the redesign especialy if they use it on their flag ship Lexus brand.

The above is just opion. I am thinking that someone with alot of UOA with same engine and oil should maybe test one of these. Does Toyota have filter that will fit Bob's Escort. I will spring for one and send it to Bob!

Purolator used to be involved in Toyota OEM filters, but no more.

ArvinMeritor, the owner of the brand name for Purolator vehicle filters, and Denso had a 50/50 joint venture factory in Jackson, Tennessee, called PuroDenso. A couple of years ago Denso boughtout ArvinMeritor's interest, and later sold part interest to another Toyota parts supplier, Toyoda Boshoku, so there is presently no Purolator involvement, but still the machinery and design from Purolator.

This filter factory in Tennessee is presently named TBDN Tennessee Co. and makes filters for many of the auto plants in North America owned by Japanese automakers.

You will find that the filter for the 6 cylinder Land Cruiser works on the 22RE. it is about 2.5 times larger. I have been using this filter for almost 100k miles on my 92. Current one is Mobil 1.

Toyotas do not use the same filter as Fords. Yes, it's the same thread and will fit, but the bypass valve setting and other factors are different.

When I cross referenced the bypass numbers they were very close. The ford filter was like 4 psi higher than Toyota-but considering the filter was twice as large and there is a 3 psi spread it was more than acceptable

I used the K&N HP-3001 on my 22RE. Prior to that I used the equivalent filters from Purolator.

Sorry-but I just don't know the psi settings. Isn't the Toyota Filter smaller?? That's why I have the Ford filter on the Toyota.
