Personally, I don't get it how a 'regular' funnel causes spills etc, if the spout is too long then just cut it. Using reg funnels all my life and never need to hold one or have someone to hold it. Even a 2L pop bottle cut in half works as funnel well.
On the other hand, $15 for a tool that you know is gonna make your work easier, faster and cleaner and will last a long time - that's cheap.
