Well, it's not the Big Three's fault that they were building SUVs. That's what the American public wanted. Look at Toyota and even Honda. They both increased the size and number of SUVs they made over the last ten years. Especially Toyota. The problem is the imports had a solid car line-up to fall back on when the boom went bust. GM relied on high profit-margin SUV sales to remain solvent. They simply don't have a Civic, Corolla, Accord, or Camry beater. Nevermind that the Vibe is a Matrix and the Malibu and Fusion are solid cars, they just perceived as being on the same level.

I noticed this change at least 2 years ago, if not earlier than that.

A mirror, so it feels better to find someone else to blame. Who was buying all of the 'gas guzzlers', which includes minivans, sporty cars, etc., in addition to the $50k SUVs and pickups ? I guess the Big 3 plotted with Big oil and created ads with irresistable subliminal messaging to buy gas guzzlers, and now that people are waking from the spell they're blaming the scum responsible for making them buy the vehicles.

I don't think they are "blaming" the big three for anything. I just think that when people started looking to downsize, there just weren't that many products in the big three stables that they liked.
