The new Camry feels exactly like a Corolla from a few years ago. Noisy and cheap.
They do get fantastic real world highway MPG though. Better even than the Nissan Altima (my favorite cheap rental car)
By way of comparison, I get 36MPG with the Altima and 40 with the Camry (highway) But the Altima feels so much more refined and sporty. None of that throttle lag, and harsh engine noise.
Interesting. Noisy and cheap? The 2018 Camry (hybrid SE) is probably the quietest car I have ever driven. On the freeway I was really impressed with how quiet it really is... And this is with the SE's 18" wheels and smaller sidewall tire.
Interior is great quality, don't really think it is cheap at all. How are you trying to clean the dash? I did car detailing as a hobby for a few years (and still do it, just far less) and something like Meguair's interior detailer with a microfiber is easy as can be and I have 0 issues with the interior looking fantastic afterward. The materials all seem really good to me... I wouldn't call it cheap, at all.
I did find the non-hybrids to drive a bit unresponsive, but the hybrid addition really fixes that issue (almost no throttle lag), which is why I went with that one. The MPG boost doesn't hurt, either!
Probably the nicest car I have ever driven to be honest. No real complaints, yet. I leased it for three year, so if things go downhill I can always just hand it back and pick something else up. But so far, really impressed.
