Toyota "all in" on EVs?

@Astro14
Check this out 🧐
The article is wrong, but then again it’s written by a media writer who has no idea what they’re talking about and cannot think critically.
General Motors has the most amount of electric vehicles on the market and Toyota does not surpass them.
The idiot writer brings up Cadillac with four models and Toyota with seven, well hello? They happen to leave out Chevrolet, GMC/Hummer, good God it’s unbelievable the crappy reporting

Chevrolet 4 models
GMC 3 models
Cadillac 4 Models (maybe closer to six if you count all the different trim levels of those models)
I hate stupid in the media

Yes, but how many of these are unique? Nova, Omega, Ventura, and Apollo ???

The article heading says "others are cutting back", which is true. GM is certainly not immune. They are temporarily closing one plant and temporarily laying off like 1300 workers. Regardless, CEO Barra remains bullish on EVs, even with significant financial losses.

Honda cancelling US EV releases (part of GM?), KIA is changing plans, Ford killed the Lightning and Tesla killed the S/X (who the heck knows what Musk has in mind?).

Again, it is across the board, no one is immune.

We have already established that the article is full of misinformation/incorrect information hence it’s not even worth a discussion based on nothingness

One example is that the Highlander will only be electric. We can argue about the semantics of all in, but that's pretty close. That's quite a change for 'Yoda.
Making the Sienna all-hybrid probably was a bolder move than making the Camry all-hybrid or a BEV-only Highlander. It just made sense to make the Camry a standard hybrid, while the Prius is still the rideshare/gig courier darling, it’s small and a Camry is a more comfortable ride - there’s a secondary market for these as Ubers and Doordashes.

GM USA EV sales up 48% in 2025
Tesla USA sales down 25% in 2025

Certainly understandable that EV sales would further fall into the toilet once USA taxpayers stopped giving people free money to buy them.

Toyota EV pickup and Landcruiser. Not sure if they are going to be released in US as of now. EV pickup isn't going to be cheap per Toyota.

Seems like a mistake to me. At least offer it as a Hybrid as well.

The take rate on the Grand Highlander is more than the “regular” model. That will remain gas/hybrid for now.

If anything, Toyota should have made the RAV4 electric along with a hybrid version, killed off the Prius/Mirai and the Corolla becomes a standard hybrid.

Put the market share and actual sales numbers up.

I'd bet given whats going on in the world, that the EV market's going to be just fine over time.

Should be interesting to see how the big currently subsidized vehicles fare.

That's flat out lying when Toyota was the one who insist hybrid is the future because you can build more of them and reduce more oil consumption as a whole.

Not sure if anyone remembers the 2nd Gen RAV4 EV…had a Tesla powertrain/battery tech, it hauled @ss

My next door neighbors had one. Toyota invested $50M in Tesla; without which there very well not be a Tesla today. Now, Toyota should kept their investment going; they sold their shares for about $750M; they could have made many billion$.
