Vehicle: 2007 Toyota Prius ~206K
Out: Toyota 90915-YZZN1 / Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 @4800 OCI
In: Ecogard X4476 / Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 (virgin Ecogard x4476 cut)

I ran Pennzoil Ultimate Premium 5w30 for the last 4.5 months ~4800 miles. The last fill was 3.5 quarts and the oil level was at around the 2/5th mark between low and max on the dipstick before I dumped it. Was planning to wait until 5K but had time to do a change today and have a upcoming road trip. The Toyota 90915-YZZN1 was purchased from Serra Toyota 03/2025 during a 25% sale for $3.11. I am using Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30. I also replaced the stock drain plug with a Fumoto F133S drain valve.

Nice work and pics. Thank You

I figured that year of Prius doesn't have an under cover to remove, are you nervous of the Fumoto valve and the low ground clearance with no under cover to protect it? I have a fumoto on my 2024 Corolla (has a cover) and thought about putting one on our 2012 Corolla (no cover) but was nervous about the low ground clearance. I do like the Fumoto valves and they look well made.

I think I got the same Fumoto drain plug and oil catch container. I believe it could be from the Trak Auto or Kragen days.
Wow good eye! That was definitely a Trak Auto bin when I bought it while living in the DMV area on the east coast and moved west 20+ years ago. The drain cap still fits tightly but the cap and basket is loose and stays in place only by gravity. It's terrible but I still keep using it. The ones from Walmart look like the oil will splatter everywhere.

Just completed the first OC yesterday since installing the Fumoto. No leaks observed on the valve or oil pan and no damage due to clearance issue. The plastic lever guard was still securely in place.

The Fumoto made the oil change easy and mess free. I didn't need to jack up the car to get access to it. I used a plastic shoe storage Rubbermaid bin to catch the oil drain. The draining was slower compared to no valve but less splash back so I can live with that. I did end up using a floor jack at each corner to get as much of the oil to drain as I could.

denso ? Only used on a boat motor - but surely do like the design - some have questioned the micron cut ?
Fumoto ? - love them when well protected - left one on the Tahoe we just traded - and now with two low to the ground sedans and a Jeep - will only keep on the current Tahoe …

I have that same drain pan as well, but I stopped using it when I got a larger Blitz one a few years later. I can't remember where I got mine, but most likely AutoZone about 20 years ago. The basket in mine is also loose, and oil would splash whenever it hits the basket just right.

Manufacturer’s molded date code is Sep or Oct 1999. Still in good condition and using it to this day.

Prior to this, I was using anything I could find, such as opening up gallon milk jugs, a gray plastic rectangular container from restaurant kitchens. I was encouraged to buy this at a time the auto parts store said they wouldn’t take gallon milk containers nor quart bottles of used oil. They poured it into their 50 gallon drums and didn’t want to dispose the containers for me. The guy said I needed to use a reusable container and bought this. Those were also the days when 5 quart jugs weren’t available yet, only qt bottles.

Yours has fared much better than mine, even though I retired it a good ~15 years ago. My basket is much more loose and warped, and my pan is much more dirty. Does your yellow cap leak as well if you tilt it full of oil? I seem to remember mine seeping, so I stopped using it as a transport vessel.
