This is one of the episodes I thought of when I mentioned one or two. I liked it when Clarkson's truck caught fire! Funny chit!

The UK version is easily the best, but in fairness I understand that it wasn't very good the first few years either. The US version I'm kind of warming up to, but doubt that it will match the UK.

When the guy was describing the Corvette ZR-1 and how it represents America and most of thhe rest of the world views America as arrogant, his response was.........F YOU. I was crying laughing. He put Jeremy Clarkson in his place!
haha that was the best i did the same! but my only problem with the show is that they tear up too many cars, like that awesome bronco or that mid 70s Ford pickup.

U.S. version is pretentious. The lack of chemistry between the hosts and the contrived interactions (while thinking they are funny) are painful to watch. No real substance either. But these days that kind of stuff sells in the U.S. Not for me though.
Tonight's episode looks to be a riot. They try drifting anything and everything such as buses and RVs!
I finally got a chance to watch TopGear India special; even though there were few offensive bits (to Indian) I still enjoyed it.
Something was not right with it though. There is no way a foreigner (or equivalent aka ex-pat) would be even able to enter a train in Mumbai. Getting a drum set and double bass on the train is simply out of question from what I remember. I know that it is all staged for our entertainment but it boggles my mind as to have they were able to pull off getting a moderately empty train.

Top Gear US didn't hold my interest, but I understand that the UK version took a few years and changes for it to come of age. I imagine for enough money that business or countries will look the other way for some of the stunts. I enjoy the UK version, but the US not so.
Why can't this country produce a decent car show? Without having a pathetic attempt at copying Top Gear? The only thing we have are commercials masquerading as car shows. Something original would be nice.

And neither did it mine. its hard to explain, but i did not like the show. I saw the Adam Levine episode. I found it scripted, dumb, and not as good as the original. (The UK version. That one has a different presentation to it.)
Only the first 8-12 minutes of any episode showing off a supercar are cool IMHO.
BTW, that show tests some of the most desired and rare cars in the world. Bugatti Veyron SuperSport has been bested by only "three" cars, i think. One was Ferrari FXX.. the other two were purpose-built no windshield no windows no anything track MONSTERS.

We used to have pretty cool car shows, but the audience is so fractionalized now there isn't the advertising base to support it. Besides, Top Gear is like the Car Talk radio show, people tune in for philosophy and (debatably) humor, in the setting of a car thing.
