It seems a lot of other human drivers know that the Waymo vehicle will yield to them no matter what. So the human drivers will not yield to the Waymo vehicle and the driverless car is stuck in one spot forever.

This is the biggest problem to self driving. It is like when you don't have to treat the counter party as human and you get no consequence, you can break down the whole system real fast.

The only reason it doesn't happen to human driver is because 1) a human driver may not react fast enough and actually hit you for real and it would be your fault, 2) a human driver may get upset and come out of the car to beat you up, and 3) in America only, the other driver may have a gun.

This is also the deeper reason of why we should never treat another person as less than human regardless of situation. It can get the worst of humanity out of us.

Do you have the option of sitting in the driver's seat and assuming control of the car if need should arise?

No! There are two buttons on the front and rear seat touch screens if you need assistance, pull over and contact support. I've never needed to use them.
