An old friend of mine is an engineer with his Ph.D. and a P.E. certification. Very bright, knowledgeable, and conscientious engineer who takes his work very seriously and is widely respected for his thoroughness, ability to work things out with designers and accountants, dedication to advancing the art and science of engineering, and consideration of factors nobody else thought of. An engineer's engineer, through and through.
He asked me to show him how to change his oil, so I did. Showed him exactly what to do and he wanted to do it himself. So I went inside for a beer and was talking with his wife and kids and he came in saying "I poured in the 5 quarts but there's still nothing on the dipstick." As soon as he opened the garage door, I could see the stream of clean oil running down the driveway. Dr. Professional Engineer, highly respected by his peers, forgot to reinstall the drain plug.
I consider it my sacred duty to never let him forget it.
