Any of the following 5 would be welcome in my gasoline engine.
1) Pennzoil
2) Havoline/Chevron
3) any of the Conoco/Phillips variations
4) Castrol GTX
5) Exxon Superflo (its Mobil brethren are similar but usually more expensive)
There are numerous other dinos (ie: QS, Valvoline, WM Supertech) that I would have no problem using for reasonable OCI's.
These I've run for hundreds of thousands of miles with excellent protection. I buy the above oils only when they are on sale and whichever is the cheapest is what I stock up on.
I know that my engines and familys outfits are safe for a long life using these.
Never had a single problem oil related in all the years..
I'm with Bill in Utah... whatever is on sale goes into my car (most times it's 49 cents/qt). Usually, it's one of the following:
1. Quaker State
2. Havoline
3. Chevron
In addition, I wouldn't have any problems using Castrol GTX.
Our newest vehicle (Honda Pilot) takes 5W-20 oil, which I'm having a difficult time finding in the above brands. So far, the cheapest I've found on-sale is Valvoline (99 cents/qt).
Martyi,
LOL!!! Yeah...that's the vibe around here that I get as well. All because of the Moly.. The Holy Moly.
It sure does have a lot, I'll say that. I wonder why the other dino's lack the moly so much?
The Conoco family (Motorcraft/Kendall/Trop-Artic) are now syn-blend. The thread-starter here asks for dinos.... not syn-blends. Also, supposedly many HMs have some synthetic in them.
Schaeffers Micron Moly,Phillips 66 Trop-Artic,Lubrication Enginners ,Mystik JT-8,Castrol GTX,Chevron/Havoline,,,,,though Phillips and LE are blends,are really good lubes,,,,,,,,,,,,BL
