Too soon for a UOA?

Whats too soon for a used oil analysis?

I have about 1000 miles, and 6+ months, on my 5.3L V8 GMC motor and want to check for coolant and fuel dilution. I do short runs, less then 20 minutes, where the engine can get up to operating temps (200F) but I dont think the oil gets up to operating temps.

Is 1000 miles too soon?

I will only be doing a sample, I will NOT change the oil (unless the tests come back saying I need to change the oil)

The oil has 1000 miles, not the motor. The motor has 55k

If you don't smell fuel in your oil or it doesn't look or feel unusual, there is no reason to do a used oil analysis except to make yourself feel better or for educational purposes. Both are perfectly valid reasons.

OAI recommends sampling at 2000-7500 miles. If you think you have a leak or a fuel problem I would sample now. If anything it may let you sleep better.

I would definitely send in a sample. I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3, warranty was up at the end of Nov. I sent a sample in first of Nov. Coolant in oil, dealer replaced heads all under warranty. Here is my used oil analysis.
