VW's quality has been slipping as of late. Consumer Reports no longer recommends that Passat because its reliability is below average. That said, my Jetta has been extremely reliable with very low repair costs. Mine is the VR6 and burns from 0-2 quarts in between 10,000 mile oil changes (depending on how hard the car is driven).

Buster, check out the maintenance schedule for the 2002+ Civic and 2003+ Accord (and possibly others as well). 10k for the first oil change under normal driving conditions.

Very true, I honestly know 6 people who have had nothing but problems with VW's. They were all brand new too and were major problems. There quality has dropped significantly. They never really were reliable cars though and always had electrical problems. "German Engineering" has been picked up as a marketing ploy when in reality, German cars are no more reliable then any others. Japan still holds the lead.
I read where the Accord goes 10k before oil changes. I was refering to how Honda wants you to go the distance with the factory fill bc of it's proclaimed additives, whatever that means.
