Tomorrow I get Cut.... Any recovery tips?

I had a lump removed from my shoulder a few years ago. No pain, no issues--but it was like four weeks of no lifting and daily bandage changes. And despite all that I wound up with a nasty stretch mark scar.

1) A friend had a half dozen of those things removed from his arms a few years ago.....no big deal. He was back at the gym lifting weights days ahead of "schedule".

2) Since you're a BITOGer are you going to photograph the fatty lumps, smear them around in the manner of a terse examination (as is done with filter media) and comment on the thickness of your skin (can thickness)? Kira

I hear ya. I had 13 removed 10 years ago; 6 on one arm and 7 on the other. Short procedure unit at hospital, local anesthetic, no pain, interesting to watch. They look like little pearl onions when the doctor squeezes them out. Just wrap the arm and keep it dry for the first couple of showers. I did the arms about 4 weeks apart. One inch scars have faded for the most part, but when I get tan the scars don't.

So I'm waiting to go in for the local anesthetic out patient surgery. Surrounded by people with their foot half in the grave.

Random thoughts:
How the fu*€k long do we think we are going to live? I have purple at work talking about ...."oh, I think that I'll retire in a few extra years that way I'll have more money". For cripes sake this is from a woman whose husband died at 68. As I get older (middle aged) I'm amazed by the "I'll live forever" mentality of people. Retire for gods sake and enjoy life. It's almost like a side effect of greed. That "I must get a little more a little more and then I can......"

Follow your Doctor's advice. Guys here will have you washing the scars daily with 0w40. Of course we will argue about which brand.

Proof that pre-surgical drugs and posting on an Internet discussion forum should never be done together.

Keep all sites dry. It is best to sponge bath until the sites are completely healed (wash with a wash cloth, instead of getting under a shower).

If they remove the stitches ask them to put steri strips on. And if they do keep them dry. If steri strips get wet even once they will fall off.

The best practice nowadays is not to shave but trim so as not to introduce infection risk.

This surgery is not a big deal, just minor incisions to pull the lipoma out. Then it is sent to a lab for biopsy -- that's a standard procedure. Most likely it will come back as benign.

Recovery is quick, just follow the post-operative instructions. Do not improvise.

Lidocaine worn off , pain.

They put on stitches and steristrips and gauze covered by a clear plastic "window" type thing that seals all edges . Not supposed to get wet. Well.... The [censored] sweat under the plastic clear seal is collecting like few drops on a window. Trapped in there. Isn't that just as bad as getting it wet!?

Don't get it wet but let us put plastic ers on your wound and trap sweat vapors in it.
