Remember all the shortages when people were hoarding? I remember toilet paper, eggs and other stuff when the shelves were empty.

I got off lucky. Had just restocked on the big packages from Sam's Club along with paper towels, so a single man was set for awhile.
Those were some crazy times.

My roommate/friend's GF stocked up a bunch from Sams/Costco as well. As much as I made fun of people hoarding, it was wonderful not having to go to a store for months!

I remember the TP being an issue early in the 2020 situation.

Fortunately, I had mistakenly bought TP the last 3 or 4 grocery trips thinking we needed it but not checking and was able to be less concerned about it.

I remember mathing out our TP usage, family of 5.

Funny that this came up. We’ve had Amazon commercial ever since. I’d get cases when “on sale” for about $36-$37. I think we have 2 boxes left and they are $51 now. Don’t let “commercial” fool you it’s the equivalent of quilted Northern. But price is now $52. I won’t pay that and will switch to Costco

P.s. when I log in, Amazon says purchased 8 times 😂

Ya. It was when I first learned the difference in feedstock between consumer and commercial TP. IIRC there was not shortage of commercial TP which uses recycled paper.

My sister gave all her sibs a 48 count box of "Who Gives A Crap" TP for Xmas 2020. It is made from bamboo not pulp wood. I'm about to begin using the 3rd box. It is a movement to bring sanitary facilities to the 3rd world that I know nothing about. Paper is does the job and mktg is cute..

I had a bad habit of "stocking up" on things like TP, nitrile gloves and N95 masks pre-"the virus that shall not be named". Menards made it easy because they would regularly have "free after rebate" deals on things like the gloves and masks. I wear a mask when I do yardwork to keep the allergies at bay and minimize the dust/dirt inhaled, and use the gloves when I change the oil on the fleet and other sloppy tasks so they get used. In late 2019, I finally came to my senses and stopped taking advantage of those sales because they were coming along pretty regularly so why use up the storage space? Then the shortages hit.

We were fine, rode out the shortages with no problem, but this just reinforced my "stocking up" instinct and I didn't need that. :ROFLMAO: As I recall, I didn't see any TP on the shelves in my area until mid-May of 2020, and, ironically, that was at Menards.

I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I will grab a pack of TP when I have a coupon and the store has a sale, just in case. Same with nitrile gloves and dust masks.

I invested in this. Granddaughter turned 19 today. Taller than her Mom!

There was a guy at work who was a big C19 denier, didn't watch any mass media and only believed what he read on a certain person's twitter. He came in one day and said what's up with toilet paper, he went to 3 stores and there was none. Had no idea. Ranted how stupid people were. I laughed at him. We had been buying paper products bulk from Sam's anyway and never had a problem.

After the pandemic, I stocked my basement with a mini supermarket with canned food, and several year's worth of toilet paper.
My home gets it's water from a natural well, so we're prepared for any future pandemics or crisis.

I despise the fools that were hoarding things then taking advantage of others by selling it @4x the price.

We ran out of paper products. I had to go to dollar stores and Home depo to get stuff.

The odd thing is that certain things seemed to be difficult to get depending on region. My uncle and grandparents in Kentucky said that Tylenol and pain medication was almost impossible to get, yet where I live no issues.

I loved to hear about some people that tried to return the bulk amounts of TP they hoarded, but were told by the stores NO. Then they would say, What am I gonna do with all this TP ?, the stores would say, that's your problem.,,
Worse was people who bought gennies for Y2K then wanted to return in the first few days of January
