To Locktite it or not?

I have not found too many applications on a vehicle that RED loctite should be used on. It is considered permanent. Requires lots of heat to remove it. I fail to understand why it is so prevalent on the stands at auto parts houses.

I get your point, we’ve all seen failures. However with quality hardware, that’s not so. The AN lock washers work perfectly, once. (Aviation). The internal type requires a high torque to compress the spring.

The only components I can think of (on my aircraft) with standard lock washers are the light bulbs.

The SAS actuator rod ends were updated to have nord-lock washers with a SB but the jam nut is still safety wired.
