I have two vehicles which are driven infrequently. Both had an oil change in November 2011. An 87 F150 (4.9 I-6) which when driven, is used to haul something driving 25-50 miles at a time. The other is an 87 Cougar (3.8 V-6)is used for one tank trips 50-150 miles at a time. Both have around 2000 miles on the oil and filter. The oil is clean. Both are stored during winters. Both are rarely used for short trips. Should I change the oil this fall or run for one more year and dump the oil next fall?

Already 2 years. I would change it. JMHO.

Go another year, won't hurt a thing. I usually change every 4 years with synthetic on my vehicles that only go about 500 miles a year.

Your probably ok.. I would take a sample and do a used oil analysis for peace of mind..

Oil does become more acidic the more time contaminants sit in the oil.. So they can don a lot of harm by sitting..

The nice thing he's doing is Long trips to burn any condensation off..
