tip to remove check engine light

hard to believe this but i saw it work, i have a buddy who will do anything to save a buck, his 1999 montecarlo had a check engine light and it came down to a emission problem, ist guess was a loose gas cap, but since he always tops off his tank since he is always checking his mileage it came out to be the canister, .his 3.8 montecarlo the canister is just behind the filler tube and only way to get to it would be to remove tire and fender liner. here is the answer he took off the gas cap and put a plastic bag over the filler tube and sealed it with a rubber band, then started and ran the engine and the canister made asound like a old coffee pot perulating .. and no more check engine light / un believeable

Really, I could have used that tip with the 1998 Lumina my wife had last year!
