I ordered a new Fram Ultra on Amazon for my car for my oil change in a little over a week (500 miles left). It's an XG4967.

It came with a little dent on the side, more noticeable in person, my iPhone camera doesn't want to show it well. Is it usable or should I run to Walmart to get another?

Thanks

Seeing as how class isn't for 2 weeks, I'm not sure what I should be focusing on with school?

Thanks for the input guys, I'll go ahead and run it. I'm no oil filter geek, so wasn't sure if something like this might cause an issue. I might cut it open when I'm done with it.

+1. slight dent, no issue. I'd be concerned about a crease though.

I would use it but send Amazon a message and say there is a small dent in the filter.
Either they send you a new free one or maybe they improve their shipping/packaging.

Pretty sure cutting it open or even thinking about it makes you an oil filter geek.

Yeah I'm curious as to what it looks like but I don't know the ins and outs of the filter, I guess I should have said I'm not a nerd about them.

Only takes 20-30 seconds to cut with a grinder and it cuts it pretty well.

When you shake the filter, does it seem like anything is loose inside? If not, then run the filter.

If you feel stuff rattling around inside when you shake it, then don't.

It's as simple as that.

Geez not one person other than me said they wouldn't use it? I guess I'm a little more OCD than I thought...

From the picture it looks like the backing plate is creased a little, leading me to believe it fell pretty far. If I already had the old one off and it was use this or nothing, I'd use it but not be happy. If I had time to swap it like the OP does, I would do that.

Your eyes are better than mine, I didn't see any dent or anything abnormal.

Okay, how about this? I'm OCD, and if I saw it on the shelf, I'd switch it out. If it was an online purchase, well, I'd probably live with it. It's not in too bad of a spot, and it's not that big.
