I'm looking for a suitable oil filter for my boat engine. It's a marinized GM 3.0L L4 Carb. The Volvo part is 835440 which is an insane amount of money for basically a PH30. I had ordered PBL15313 from Amazon but am now reading all the black glue issues they are having. Fram is gone, CT doesn't carry the newer M1-111A and everything else I find recommended here doesn't seem to be available in Canada. Through some googlefu I think I found that the Napa NGF 7099 is also compatible. Definitely needs to be the stubby version of this can as the engine mounts are in the way of anything taller.

I'm going to use Pennzoil Marine 25W40 semi synthetic as the oil. I'll never reach the hour count for oil changes I'll be changing it every spring as I prep the boat for summer.

Any other Canadian available filters I should be looking at? Local CT seems to be switching to WIX from Fram but same issues as the Purolator filters?

If it crosses over to a Fram PH30 or M1-111A, then figure out what Carquest Premium would cross over to a PH30 and M1-111A. There are Carquest stores in Canada.

Can they order it? If they can get Mobil filters I'd think they could order ones that they don't normally stock.

There are Carquest filters listed in the cross reference info. Make sure it's the Premium (10K mile rated filter) if you look at Carquest filters.

Some of the info in this cross reference might be outdated because some oil filters and part numbers change like the wind due to suppliers being changed all the time.

This is the Carquest Premium that crosses over to a Fram PH30. A 1990 Corvette V8 specs a PH30, so I used that the look up the Carquest filter. I see Carquest here also shows the M1-111A in their stock.

Looking at your other posts about marine applications, synthetic filter media with wire backing really does make sense for marine use.

On paper the purolator boss looks like the next best fit to the Fram XG30.

I can't find anywhere to purchase carquest filters.

What store is that screenshot from?
Those screen shots are from US Advance Auto Parts website.

There are 271 Carquest stores in Canada, and that's where the Carquest filters are sold there. Some CA members here have bought them from Carquest stores in CA.

The Boss isn't very efficient if that matters to you.
