Hello BTOG curious how long it's taking you to change your oil and filter and oil weight used.
Car : 5sfe Camry
Oil used : anything cheap usually conventional or synthetic blend 10w40
Time taken :5 mins total
After 4 years of owner ship I have dialed in my oil changes to under 5 mins of actually being at the car working on it.
 
I take my time. I usually do it on a Sunday morning. Let it drain while I make some coffee,eat breakfast,then refill and put everything back together. Oil used-Mobil 1 15W50.
 
That's exactly what I do have everything ready including the exact amount of oil to refill my car open the sump after a long drive and come back after something to eat.
I do it on a Friday afternoon after work and a long drive home .
I have two options $150-200. At a lube place and wait 1-2 hrs.
Or do it myself in a few minutes for $25-30

60-90 min. When I change the oil, I lift up the entire car, pull off all of the tires, inspect the suspension, vacuum the engine/cabin filters, etc.
 
About 60 minutes. As long as I'm under there I might as well look and see if everything is in running order. It's a good time to look at ALL the fluids.
 
About 30min. I rotate tires while the oil is draining. I take my time to make sure everything is done cleanly and correctly.

Just don't forget to hide the keys so the wife/kids don't take off with it with no oil in the pan!

It is impossible to change oil and filter, clean up the mess and put everything away in 5 minutes.
 
60+ minutes.

I check everything I can see and touch.
I take my time, do a good job, and have fun while I am at it.

BTW, The only way it would take a person 5 minutes is if they had a Fumato valve, drained it HOT, didn't wait to let it drip, and had an easily accessible filter (or they are using 1 filter for 2 OCI's).

I'm pretty sure it takes me more than 5 minutes just to pour 5 quarts into my car. I try to get as much out of every jug or bottle as possible.
 
Time to change the oil in the Taxi, 10 minutes, trolley jack and two axle stands, plenty of room to jack and support.

Then the rest of your afternoon trying to get the stupid oil filter out!!!!

Volvo is a real easy one as it has a cartridge filter, probably 20 minutes now that I have bought a set of tools specific to cartridge oil filter caps.

Used to have to muck about using a three leg claw type oil filter removal tool and some rags.

I suspect he 5 minutes above is time spent in the vehicle only, not jacking it up or cleaning up.

Pathfinder is not bad as I can drive it onto a couple of bricks to get enough clearance. Filter is slightly awkward and best accessed with one of those metal strap tools that you twist the handle to tighten, as then you can loosen and refit ten without it falling off.

Note to self buy another one of those tools as it broke when I last did the filter on the Pathy, is due soon.
 
I have timed it many times as its enjoyable my oil filter is very accessible .
It is 5 mins total work I usually just open the drain plug pop the oil cap and walk away for a couple of mins.
There isn't really clean up I pour the used oil into the empty container from new oil and use a rag to remove the filter.
I change the oil every 6-7 weeks and only do high way Kms.

All up I'd say I spend 30 to 35 minutes.

- 5 minutes to get my tools and stuff together.

- 5 minutes lift the car and remove drain plug and filter.

- 5 minutes to pre-fill and install the new filter and drain plug.

- 5 minutes to refill and check levels and briefly run the engine.

- 5 minutes to clean up tools and put used oil into containers.

- 5 to 10 minutes to give the engine bay quick look over, v-belts, battery condition, brake fluid and coolant levels, and then final recheck of oil level.

- Done.

Spector, I am with you.

I get the car up on jack stands after a nice highway ride, and let it drain out overnight. Gets that last maybe 1/4 quart of dirty oil out.

Actual hands-on time is probably 15 minutes though.
 
After comparing drains in minutes/hours/days over the years I've found getting every last drop can = a scary sounding dry start on some engines. So now I'm on the faster side, no more than 1/2 hour. The residual oil is my friend, not the enemy.
 
No hurry, no worry.

It takes me about the same time on any of the seven things I change oil on. 30 minutes or so.

Jack up the car. Place jack stands. Drail oil. Remove filter. Replace filter. Replace plug. Pour in oil. Take off stands.

Clean up. Cigar. Coffee/Beer. Radio. Watch the clouds or traffic go by. Take a nap.

Life is good, with oil.
