I put fuel power in my tank for the first time (2 oz/5 gal) about 350 miles ago, and am on my second tank now at the normal dose. How long does it take before benefits would start showing up? How long did it take for you?

If anything, my engine feels a little rougher now, but I figure I better give the FP at least 1000 miles before worrying about it. What are your guys experiences with the early stages of Fuel Power?

I noticed, or thought I noticed, and immediate increase in throttle respons and smoothness, and a feeling of more power with less effort. Could be my imagination. I've also got AutoRx in the crankcase too, so....

Keep in mind, depending on your vehicle, FP is cleaning out carbon and varnish. If it is really dirty this may take a couple tanks.

Some customers do not see a mileage increase, but one look inside will show you what it's doing.

I saw a fuel economy jump on the first tank in two of my cars. They have gotten smoother too, but that has been more gradual.

That's kind of what I figured. I'll let you guys know what kind of effects I see after 2 or 3 thousand miles. If anybody else wants to relate their FP story, I'd love to hear it!

Here's my first update on Fuel Power. On my first tank the engine seemed rough and sluggish. So after filling up my second tank (17 gallons), I was down to roughly 1 oz./5 gal. I said "Screw it, lets see if FP can do anything!" and I squirted 14 oz in. The engine instanly ran smoother, and the mileage on that tank was 2 mpg better than I expected. Over about 1300 miles since then, I've been putting in the recommended 1 oz/5 gal and getting 1-2 mpg better than I'd usually expect. My pinging is starting to go away as well. My car calls for 86 octane, but pings pretty bad on 87, and had been pinging some on 89. I'd say the pinging is 75% gone on 89, so I'm going to start filling up with 87 octane again, and see if it will go away completely. I'll let you guys know what happens!

BTW, I've been running Chevron almost exclusively since I bought the car nearly 40k miles ago, and I'm going to use only Chevron until mileage and pinging stabilizes, in order to keep variables in my experiment to a minimum.

I don't think the pinging is a result of the Chevron gas, since it has done it since I bought it. I wonder if the previous owner wanted to treat the car well, and thought that feeding it 92 octane would be good for it. If that's the case, then we'll soon see how long it takes FP to clean out 90k miles (the mileage before I bought it) of carbon deposits!

In some of the postings, I've seen suggestions to use FP @ 2 oz/5-gal for the first tank, 1 oz/5-gal until the system is totally clean and ping-free, then try 1 oz/10-gal and check the fuel mileage to see if the benefits are retained.

It is common for effective fuel additives to cause the engine to run rough when doing the heavy cleaning.

Hopefully that's what happened. BTW, will using FP clean the exhaust pipe on its own, or would one actually have to clean it before seeing any difference? Today I noticed that the little black trails that usually build up at the bottom of my exhaust tips are gone. I never pay attention to that though, so maybe the rain just cleaned them off.
