Fuel Power & Amsoil PI compatability

Hello,
I have a question concerning being able to mix FP and Amsoil PI in the same tank of gas.

About four weeks ago I tried Fuel Power for the first time in my 1991 Ford F-150. I don't think it even took a 1/4 of a tank before the sound of the engine became noticeably smoother. Needless to say, this old truck now gets FP with every tankful.

This, however, causes me to have a problem. I need to figure out a use for the 3/4 of a gallon of Amsoil PI left in my closet.

One solution that seems very attractive to me is to combine a little bit of Fuel Power and a little bit of Amsoil PI in the same tank.

I know the abilities of the two will overlap and be redundant in many areas. However, I like the idea of mixing a good quality upper cylinder lubricant(primarily the Amsoil PI) with a good fuel system cleaner(primarily FP). On a side note, I know from doing searches on this forum that FP does not appear to contain a "true" UCL. Hence, my desire to add the Amsoil PI.

Any compatibility issues I need to worry about before I proceed with this experiment? What treat rates do you all think I should I use, the recommended rates on each bottle or slightly reduced ones cosidering the presence of the two products?

Any comments, thoughts, or warnings would be appreciated.

Aside from playing junior chemist, I would use each product separately in alternating fillups until the PI is exhausted.

I have used both in my fleet at the same time with no issues.

I just wouldn't use huge amounts of both at the same time, but that;s more for economic reasons than chemical reasons. Just use both at recommended dilution at the same time and you will have no issues.

Run a little in each tank and switch back and forth? it does have dual tanks doesn't it?

My Ford F-150 does have dual tanks. At the very minimum, I was planning to do what you both had suggested and place each product in a different tank.

I was hoping somebody like you would chime in. Like I said before, the Amsoil PI and the FP will probably be redundant in certain areas. However, I still believe each product has enough unique benefits that I wanted to experiment in a manner similar to the way you have used both products. Even though I have had good results with FP, I am not ready to replace the Amsoil PI.

They will mix just fine, since they are both hydrocarbons with solvents. Just use 1 oz. of mix/ 5 gallons of fuel and you should be OK.

A little clarification on the 1 oz. for every five gallons, if you don't mind.

When you said "mix" did you mean for me to make a mix containing equal amounts of Amsoil PI and FP or did you mean something different?

I apologize if I am making this more complicated than it needs to be. However, I plan to take every suggestion seriously and I wanted to make sure I understood what you were trying to tell me.

Correct, I was assuming a 50/50 mix but I don't think the ratios would be critical.
