Did the filter change solve the problem?
Curious since I've had multiple cases where after an oil change to a different brand of oil, the engine was making some perceived new noises ... but after driving a week or so the noises were gone! Kind of like the new oil had to settle or form a new or its own tribofilm, etc. idk
I really can't say just yet. So far, since installing the MC filter, no noise. Maybe the previous noise was just a fluke. When I cut the filter open maybe there will be something in there to explain the noise.
The NG is a very dependable filter. I have used them in the past, as well as others that I know have used them too. There were never any problems before. And, other members here use them exclusively as well.
If it makes noise again, I will change the oil and go from there. But, I believe it's a done deal.......hopefully.
iirc, there were some threads that with PD pumps, the impact of differences between oil filters is not that significant (or none?) when it comes to oil pressure ... I'm not an expert on this subject but if you do some search, it may answer your oil filter question. Maybe it has nothing to do with the filter like my cases. Except my engine noises were kind of grinding noises after an oil change (to a different brand) that went away after a week or so.
