Just got done on a 2K run on 18 oz of MMO and GTX HM 10W40 in the Jetta. The oil looked pretty good other than a slight redish color from the MMO. It did help with the valve train noise though.

Sounds good to me. You probably had a pretty clean engine to start with. Try running it for a full OCI if you think the engine is dirty.
After you changed the oil was the valve train still more quiet or only when the MMO was in there? Just curious.

Not as bad but still there....it might just be nature of the beast.
