THIS is Texas? 6º F

Hey, all you Texans. Please list WHERE IN TEXAS you are located.
As you well know, Texas is a BIG place. Weather in Amarillo & Lubbock is a lot different than Houston or Mission/Brownsville.
I won’t even mention ElPaso.

(As I explain to my friends in France, “Texas is one fifth LARGER than France.)
I'm about 50 miles northeast of Dallas.

12° right now on the way to a low of 0° overnight. Somewhere around 8-1/2" of snow on the ground with a lot more coming tomorrow night into Wednesday. We've been lucky so far with the power staying on. If it goes off, we have a fireplace and we'll close off the front room and office. The fireplace will put out enough heat to warm that space.
By Friday we'll be getting back to normal temps for us. Snow is pretty to look at, but that's about all it's good for in my book. I'm over it already. Bring on summer and 90°.

Exactly how does a wind mill freeze? I mean if it's stopped, I kinda understand. But I would think that a moving one would keep moving. In the grand scheme, it's really not THAT cold.

Did they use 20W-50 instead of synthetic 5W-30, or something?

Considering the bearings are the weak link … can’t see how they could tolerate vibrational and thrust bearing loads caused by heavy ice …

We have a lot of subdivisions build up here with only electric heat. I know a few people that live in them. Astronomical is a good word to describe the heating costs on those homes.
Same with apartments … my son just left his and went to his friends new house who is also without power … but has a gas fireplace and stovetop …

The cold ain't gonna stop Louisiana!

We're expecting ice before midnight down here in Da Swamp. I just got back from the grocery and gas station, and it was starting to rain, with 40 F. Supposedly we will see a low of 24 tomorrow morning.

I parked my car away from trees in case some branches get overloaded with ice and fall. Of course that means the car will be glazed tomorrow. It'll probably rise above freezing in the daytime, then fall on Tuesday night. I'm off today and tomorrow because of Mardi Gras, but there isn't any place to go anyway. The imbeciles here can't drive in the dry let alone the wet, or in ice or snow, so I'm glad to stay home.
There are imbeciles everywhere who can't drive.😀

In Austin they have no snow removal equipment so the roads are full of snow that turned to ice. My friend there lost his internet and was using his phone as a wifi hotspot. He has power but many in his apartment complex are without power.

Moved here after 17 long years in Wyoming, for the purpose of getting away from this kind of b.s. weather. Sad to say, even -40 in Gillette, WY never crippled the infrastructure like 0 appears to in Dallas. ERCOT, pull your pants up.

I guess I didn't go far enough south. How's the real estate market in Brazil? Or maybe something right on the equator?

ERCOT is technically working great.. to be pedantic. LOL. The gencos in the market are killing it if they have good gas contracts.. Transmission congestion is probably the hurdle right now.
