Anybody noticing weeping from the Amsoil EaO20 crimp? I am on number three that has done this.
I hate the sight of oil drops under a 30K mile retentively maintained car....

I will take pics next time the splash pan is off.

I'd hit up tech support and let them give it a look:see. You'll probably get a new filter out of the deal.

These things, regardless of the filter manufacturer, are best reported. It sends a trace down the line to determine where the stuff is slipping through the cracks. No feedback? No corrective action to tighten the controls.

I completely agree, and already have a call into Superior. I was just curious to see if it was isolated.

It's probably over a given lot #. Or it could be most evidenced on a given application. I looked to see if there were any TSB's on the EaO20 and found none. Can I figure that all three filters were purchased at once?

They were not.

I haven't noticed any leakage with the EaO20 I used 2 winters ago, but I did notice that it took a second or two longer to build-up oil pressure when starting the car when compared to every other oil filter I've used on my car. I don't think it hurt anything, but it made me worry slightly anyways.

That should rule out the same lot number. I tend to doubt that the same lot sat on the shelf for 3 spaced purchases.

I am really tending to think it is coincidence then ( or our local warehouse manager doesn't like me anymore.. lol ). I have installed hundreds of EaO filters ( 20's and 12's ) over the years as the local Subaru clubs "lube guy", and it seems like my car is the first.

Is there a chance the oil filter threaded insert is loose and not perfectly square to the gasket surface. I know on some cars, the threaded insert is removable and can possibly loosen with time (I admit as a new Subaru owner, that I do not know if it is this way on the subie flat 4s).

The EaO 20s are the only ones that give me grief. No other filter has done this. Plus there was a WIX between the last two 20's.

just switch to a Pure-One, easy to purchase locally and filters better anyhow....not to mention it only costs 1/3 the price of the troublesome EAO.

Well, true and not. 1/3 the price is with you going to AA and getting it ..and you paying S&H on one filter.

Another useless reply.....keep pushing the Kool Aid, even when it is rancid.......

Wow that sucks, especially from a small company dealing in a high end product. Not good. This board might be a good place to get the word out, and hopefully get you an answer. I recall a member a long while back having an issue with Amsoil, and after bringing it to light here it was resolved. Good luck man!

My villager has similar issue...
EaO leaks (after 8 months), Nascar select leaks, Napa Gold leaks...
But fram doesn't

The 20 is the only filter to ever leak on this car, however there have only been Amsoil,Pure-One and Wix filters on the car.
The leak starts immediately after install, and on a 35K mile car, I am not pleased to have it covered in oil.

I would not be so upset about it if Amsoil had even made an effort to address the issue. ( even an email telling me to jump in a lake would have made me feel better )
