i have a 2010 and a 2011 hyundai santa fe v6 all wheel drive and i am thinking about getting a 2014 santa fe for my daughter how much smaller is the hyundai santa fe sport than my 2010 and 2012? im pretty sure the full size one is a lot more money. any advice would be great!

It is not smaller. It is actually larger inside. The roofline is lower and the windows are smaller. It does feel lower to the ground and more enclosed than the previous generation Santa Fe. It also is more carlike in it's ride and handling. The heated steering wheel is a great option, and the AWD with 4WD lock is an awesome system. The 2.0T is really fun to drive.
I love all 3 generations of the Santa Fe. Working in Hyundai service I get to drive them all the time.

Everything Salv has said. Its a great vehicle that can wear many different hats. Feels extremely sturdy and safe as well. She will love it.

what is the price difference my 2011 listed for 28,000 is the new sport the same or is the other one in the same price range? or would she be safer in my 2011 because it is a little bigger?

My v6 is noisy at start up did anyone else notice this?

give your daughter the 2010 hyundai santa fe. You can get yourself the new 2014 santa fe

I agree and I'm a prior Hyundai owner. They do make nice cars but the prices have grown way too much to make them a good value, especially if you and or she ever wants to sell it. Hyundai's sure don't hold their value very well. My 4 1/2 year old Hyundai lost $11K of it's value when I sold it in 2012. If you plan on keeping it forever they do hold up pretty good.

The Santa Fe Sport are very nice looking but better/more SUV can be had for that $$ for sure. I just purchased my 2013 Ford Explorer 6 mos ago for $26,500....

In Your opinion do you think the ford explorer is a better suv than the Hyundai santa fe?
I think the warranty is the big selling point. If you keep your cars 10 years they are worth it to some i guess.. I think Hyundai is good with their warranties i dont see a lot of them here in my engine shop needing engines.

I'm driving the little one (2010 Tuscon).
Coming up to 60k. My 1st Hyundai.
Lowest maintenance vehicle I've had.
Just today I took it to the dealer 1st time since I bought it for a recall to replace the stop lamp switch. They asked if I wanted a free courtesy multi-point inspection so I took it as long as they don't touch the air filter since I changed it last OC (along with cabin filter) and didn't want the air filter seating disturbed.
Anyway as little as I seem to do to it, I was expecting them to find/recommend something to up-sell me. They didn't find a single thing to up-sell to me - I wasn't expecting that.
I been periodically mentioning to the wife maybe the Sante Fe for her next vehicle since the smaller Tuscon serves my purpose and has treated me well so far. Maybe when she's done with her SUV (Escape) we'll look then into a Sante Fe and see how it goes. Her sister has a Sante Fe and drives a lot of miles (retired and likes to visit family & friends in various states all the time).

I do think for the price the Explorer is a better buy. It's a V6 with 100 more HP/TQ than the Santa Fe with about the same MPG, it has a 3rd row and the generation of motor in the Ex has been around for a while, no DI to mess with etc. Coming from Hyundai to Ford, the Ford's interior is higher quality and the drive-train doesn't feel so chintzy. The Hyundai had better paint and exterior fit/finish.

I'm sure they would both serve her well, however the Ex is a bigger SUV that she could grow into. As far as the warranty, a 100K Ford extended warranty can be had for $800-1K if that's what she is worried about. They have a 5Yr/60K drive-train warranty from the factory.

I definitely would not shy away from owning another Hyundai as my last one was near perfect, I just couldn't find the value in their SUV segment.

I have had six so far.they are one of the most trouble free cars I have ever owned.love my santafe.thinking of getting another one,but I want the six I don't think the 2.4 would have the power for a vehicle that size.

Is the new Santa Fe no longer related to the Kia Sorento?

It obviously wasn't related to the 1st gen body on frame Sorento, but it was related to the 2nd gen crossover Sorento.

As of late, I've found the Kias to be more attractive than their Hyundai siblings. Usually a better buy too.

I know Hyundais are not cheap anymore people now realize they are quality cars and have great warranties and now the price is way up there.

According to Wikipedia the Santa Fe was introduced in 2001. You've gone through six of them in 14 years?

I was going to suggest the same thing. I have to ask why would you not do this? Don't get me wrong....I think your daughter must be great for you to want to do this and its very nice of you.....but giving her a 2010 r 2012 would be very nice as well!!
